Congratulations to our students who made their Reconciliation last week. Our children conducted themselves with such reverence and respect. Fr Bernard held a wonderful service engaging with families and students, he also made the students feel comfortable and special in receiving this important Sacrament. Thank you to Mrs Cochrane, Miss Kenworthy and Mrs Deib for their assistance with the preparation of the Sacrament.
What a perfect day we had for our Athletics Carnival. It was wonderful to see so many parents and grandparents in attendance cheering on. I was very pleased with the way in which all student's gave their best and happily encouraged all of their friends. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered on the day, your help was very much appreciated. Thank you to the P&F for organising the free sausage sizzle and cake stall. A big thank you to all staff and especially to Mrs Goode who has spent months preparing the big day.
A reminder that this Friday afternoon at 2pm will be the Edudance Concert which will be held on the courts.
A few weeks ago the P&F held the Glow Disco. We had over 90% of students attend this exciting event. Events like this don't just happen, the P&F spent weeks preparing for the day and hours setting up and then cleaning up until 10pm on the night. Thank you to the P&F and the many volunteers. I know the children really enjoy this amazing event.
Kindergarten 2020 is already full and there are only 7 places left for 2021. If you have not yet placed an Enrolment Application for 2021 please do so as soon as possible. Please also ensure that you have filled out an Application for 2022 as we do not know if you have another child starting.
You support all members of the school community in making informed decisions about students.
You recognise that parents are the first educators of their children and equal partners in the education of students.
You understand that each member of the school community has skills, experience and knowledge that may be a unique resource that can be directed to towards the safety and well-being of students.
You actively share information about students with their parents and the Principal so that they may make informed decisions about students. You listen to everyone with courtesy and respect.
You treat the opinions of parents and school staff about the education and well-being of students with respect and dignity, even if you do not agree with it or believe it is misinformed or misguided.
You use plain language with appropriate style, tone and level in your written or verbal communication, particularly when expressing technical or expert advice, and you actively seek confirmation that you have been understood.
You engage with all parents equally and fairly, regardless of their relationship status, mindful that, in the absence of court orders to the contrary, each parent has equal and joint parental responsibility for their child. You do not allow your opinion about the behaviour of parents to prevent you from engaging openly and honestly with each of them about their child’s education.
You continue to inform and engage with a parent about the education and well-being of their child on the assumption that it is in the student’s best interests to do so, regardless of the parent’s level of engagement with you or the child. You respect any decision by a parent to disengage with you or their child, and you remain open to re-engage in the future.
You act to strengthen, preserve, restore and promote positive relationships between the student and their parents, family members, and those significant to the student, regardless of any breakdown in these relationships.
You do not use the behaviour of either parent as a reason for denying them or their child access to information or support from the school that are in the best interests of the student, unless doing so would place the student or school community at risk of harm.
A huge thank you too all those parents that helped at the Kids Disco. With a slightly different format this year; it ran really well, and kids all had a great time. Once again, these events are only possible with the help from our parents so thank you very much.
CAKE STALL AT FACTION CARNIVAL
$330 was raised at the Sports Carnival cake stall and those funds will be given to the sports department of the school. Thank you to everyone that baked; there was so much on offer and so good to see such support from all our families.
Very big thank you to all those people that jumped in and help run the stall, relieving other parents so they could watch their kids in races.

One of our Christian duties and responsibilities is to spread the Good News of Jesus to others. There are so many ways that we can do this; it can be through teaching, the way we live our lives or talking to one another about Jesus. This time of the year we try to spread the good news by encouraging others to reflect the need of God in our lives. All parents are encouraged to read the attached PDF on “GOD – Myth or Real?”.
Please feel free to share this information with others. For further information or to register please call Fr Bernard on 9245 3899.
A very big congratulations to all the children on your First Reconciliation! What a wonderful celebration!
How wonderful it was also to see so many families at the Family Mass on the weekend.
We look forward to welcoming you back again very soon.

Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) is currently developing an Attendance Strategy for Catholic schools. It is well recognised that regular attendance at school results in lifelong learning benefits and helps our children to become productive and responsible adults.
Catholic School Parents WA (CSPWA) is partnering with CEWA in this important work as parents play a significant role in attendance and it is important, we hear parents views.
A CONFIDENTIAL survey is being conducted across the state to collect parent thoughts and assumptions regarding attendance and we are asking that all schools share this survey with parents. A link to the letter has been enclosed for you to share with your parent community.
This is a significant opportunity for parents to have input into the Attendance Strategy and therefore we urge as many parents as possible to participate in the Survey.
Parent feedback will help to inform the final strategy, this survey will close on Friday 27th September 2019.
If you have any additional queries please contact Siobhan Allen, Executive Director, CSPWA, firstname.lastname@example.org.
