The children are now fully settled into their classes and new routines. It has been pleasing to witness so many happy faces working so well together. It has also been wonderful to see how welcoming students have been to all our new students helping them in class and around the school. Our Year 6 student ministries have begun with students already meeting to plan ways so they can lead in making our school the best place for all students.
This year the main communication tool used by teachers for whole class communication will be through edublog. This could include homework, class updates, photos or permission slips. You should have received a link and a password for your child's class. If you have not please contact the class teacher via email. Staff email can be located on the school website http://web.olgc.wa.edu.au/staff

Student and visitor sign in and out
Please ensure that you are signing in or out late students or early departures at the front office using the iPad system. This is to be completed by using the ipad located in the front office. Visitors and parent helpers are also asked to sign in. Any volunteers or visitors will need to wear a stick on badge printed through the sign in system. Please ensure that volunteers or visitors sign out before leaving.
If your child arrives to school after 8.45am, you must sign them in using this system. Your child will then be given a red card to take to the class teacher, this is to let the teacher know that you have signed them in.
As parents will be aware, some children in our school are allergic to some foods. This is an extremely stressful time for parents as they do entrust the school with taking care of their most precious gifts. At OLGC we encourage parents to consider the following:
Please no sandwiches with spreads that contain nuts, eggs.
No tree nuts, like almonds, cashews, hazelnuts etc.
It would be appreciated if parents could reinforce with their children that there is no sharing of morning tea or lunches. Please feel free to explain the reason for this. We are encouraging parents to consider alternatives to these foods for the safety and wellbeing of all our students.
If your child is absent from school please fill out absentee form www.olgc.wa.edu.au/absentee-submission or phone the school on 9341 3148 preferably before 10.00am. If we have not received any notification prior to this time we will contact you.
If your child is going to be away for any length of time (i.e. family holiday, surgery), a written letter or email is required prior to the absence by either emailing your class teacher or email@example.com
